PATROL DIVISION

 

Providing 24 hour a day coverage, these crews rotate shifts every 6 weeks, working twelve hour shifts.

 

The responsibilities of the Patrol Division is to investigate reported complaints from citizens, while protecting life and property by enforcing state statutes, county ordinances and criminal laws.  Duties normally consist of patrol and traffic activities in a designated area of the county on an assigned shift in a patrol vehicle.

 

Assignments also include issuing citations and infractions to traffic law violators, arresting persons who have committed crimes, securing prisoners, rendering assistance to disabled motorists, investigating criminal activity, submitting reports on case assignments, assisting other agencies who require the help of our personnel, giving first-aid to injured persons, investigating motor vehicle collisions, interviewing suspects, victims and witnesses, intervening in family disputes, working with Social Service agencies for the protection of minors and adults, investigating both adult and juvenile violators and appearing in court and giving testimony on those cases involved.

 

In addition to performing their day to day duties several of these deputies provide additional services to the office and to the public. They are:

  • Field Training Officer(s)-FTO’s

  • Domestic Violence Instructor

  • Hostage Negotiations

  • Interpreters

  • Firearms Training

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course Instructors (EVOC)

  • Civil Disturbance Team Training

  • Use of Force Training

  • Honor Guard

  • and many other duties

SHERIFF OFFICE SUBSTATIONS

 

In addition to the main office in Ephrata, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office maintains three substations scattered throughout the county. These offices are not manned, but provide the deputies with a place to respond when interviewing victims and witnesses and to complete reports.
